2014 The Year of Art

I have always wanted to paint more fine art and this year I got going. First via a week away at at Nicholaston House on a painting retreat and then by going out monthly with a dear friend to paint outdoors! People tell me I have a talent so I will keep going. I’d appreciate some feedback 🙂

Stroll over the Malverns

On a journey from Nottingham to Bristol Josh and I stopped over at the Malvern Hills for a walk. The weather was crisp and clear. Because the Malverns stand out over surrounding land for miles the view can be fab. Today was a great day for a view.

Beaulieu to Buckler’s Hard

This was made on an iPhone and stitched together by the Autostitch iPhone App.

The walk from Beaulieu to Buckler’s Hard is a well known 4 mile stroll. It starts off in Beaulieu in the car park, wanders past shops and pub in the village and then sets off down well marked broad path through fields and woods. At one point you have the choice to stick to the wider path or go down to the river where a lot of the walk is along wooden planking. Views of the river are lovely. At Buckler’s hard walk up to the pub have a pint or coffee then set off back seeing the views from a different angle. A pleasant afternoon with Ben and Kathy.

New Years Day Walk

The McQueen family ventured out on our traditional New Years Day walk in the New Forest with others from our housegroup. Dave C took us to Acres Down. Lovely views, lovely weather. Afterwards we had to readjust as The New Forest Inn was packed so we went to The Swan instead.

Mottisfont in May

Had a great afternoon on Bank Holiday Monday walking around Mottisfont Abbey gardens. Having a NT membership helps ‘cos you don’t feel you have to rush around to see everything as you can always come back. Roses are pretty fab but may be better in mid-June.

Canoeing on Purbeck

Old Harry and his wife

Chalk cliffs off StudlandI have just come back from a few days camping and canoeing on Purbeck. Weather was great and I had an amazing time canoeing round Studland including seeing Old Harry and his wife.

I also had a trip up the River Frome from Wareham and across Swanage Bay. Walking was less successful because I had intended to walk from Kimmeridge to Lulworth Cove but the range walks were shut. Instead I wandered around Kimmeridge.
