Oils

My oil painting was inspired by a class I went to with Monica Coleman a well-established New Forest oil painter I discovered via her gallery in Ringwood. She was the subject of a local tv news item. ‘New Forest Stream’ was painted in her kitchen in Ringwood. There are no doubt many versions of this in peoples collections! I consider oils as being where I need to go to develop my skills further as their versatility in blending and working is so much more transcendent than acrylics or watercolours. However, I am still working with acrylics honing my skills and knowledge of form and colour in a medium that is friendlier to the beginner. The ‘Faith in a boat’ painting is my first using water-mixable oils. Most of my pieces are originals from either En Plain Air work or photographs that I have taken. However, some are my versions of other artists/photographers work either from online images or video tutorials. In all such cases I have tried to gain permission and attribution where required.
